Germany’s Bild newspaper is claiming that Bayern Munich have secured a deal that will see Ukrainian international Anatoliy Tymoshchuk join them in the summer.

The Zenit St. Petersburg star is widely touted as one of the best players in the Russian Premier League, so Bayern will have done well if reports of an €11 million ($14m) deal prove accurate.

Tymoshchuk, 29-years-old, has been with the UEFA Cup holders Zenit since his move from Shakhtar Donetsk last year, but has made no secret of his desire to move to a bigger club with clear and present Champions League prospects.

Bild goon to claim that the alleged deal was agreed in principle during Tymoshchuk’s much publicised trip to Munich last month to meet with FC Bayern officials.

Whether the reports are actually valid – and if so, what bearing this will have with Mark van Bommel’s future in Munich – remains to be seen
